New Combo First Aid Courses for the Whole Family!
Back in September, we introduced our fantastic Flat Stan First Aid Workshops for Children. Designed for children aged 4 to 11 years, the workshops not only engage them with First Aid but arm them with the necessary knowledge and skills they need to summon the correct help or administer First Aid themselves.
We’ve had a fantastic response to Flat Stan and off the back of this have decided to take the workshop one step further…
First Aid for the whole family
We are delighted to announce that in the New Year, we will run the Flat Stan First Aid Workshops for Children alongside our First Aid for Parents, Grandparents and Carers – two courses, one venue, one time.
We find that many Parents, Grandparents and Carers struggle with childcare arrangements which prevents them from attending our First Aid courses. With this in mind, our new combined courses will allow adults and children to come together at one venue at the same time.
The First Aid courses
First Aid for Parents, Grandparents and Carers will provide adults with valuable first aid knowledge and practical skills, including how to deal with resuscitation, bleeding, seizures and meningitis concerning children and babies. For the youngsters, child-friendly Flat Stan manikins will be present at their workshop. This will give them the confidence to dial 999, check if someone is responsive or breathing, deliver chest compressions and help someone who is choking, bleeding or suffering from a burn.
We are passionate about young children being armed with the necessary First Aid knowledge and skills for their age, so that they can either summon help or administer First Aid until an adult or the emergency services arrive. This, combined with our First Aid for Parents, Grandparents and Carers course, means that adults are also in the know should they find a child in their care requires medical attention. It’s a win win situation!
The cost for the course is £10 per adult and £10 per child which includes Paediatric First Aid handbooks which will be issued to the adults in attendance and Flat Stan First Aid handbooks and stickers for the children.
Our next public courses, which are open to anyone, will be held at:
– The Wheatley Arms, Ilkley, on Monday 13th February 2017 from 10am – 12pm
– Silsden Youth and Community Centre near Keighley on Wednesday 15th February 2017 from 10am – 12pm
