Johnny Valentine

Quality Manager

I am the Quality Manager and Lead Trainer here at GEM and have been with the company for 5 years. I have been first aid trained now for around 17 years which is where my passion for first aid training comes from.

After working in customer service for 12 years hosting a variety of groups and dealing with hundreds of customers a week I decided to change my career following a lifelong interest in health and safety and first aid. Having seen first-hand the importance of first aid training in every day situations through dealing with the public, I felt it was an important skill I wanted to train others in. In family life, during my time in customer service and whilst being a trainer I have dealt with many first aid incidents including seizures, strokes and suspected heart attacks to name just a few.

As well as the teaching of first aid I also volunteer for Yorkshire Ambulance Service as a Community First Responder attempting to respond to emergency situations in the community.  This helps develop my knowledge and experience for delivery allowing me enrich the training provided to the learners attending a GEM course. On average I volunteer 24 hours a month resulting in roughly 8 callouts during that time.

In my free time I enjoys craft beers, football, spending time with my partner and kids as well as walking especially in the Dales and the Lake District.  I have a love for music especially when I get the chance to attend a large rock festival.
