You can apply for Gold Skilled Worker (Advanced Craft) CSCS Card, if you have either:

  • Achieved a Construction Related NVQ/SVQ level 3 or SVQ at SCQF level 6.
  • Completed an approved apprenticeship (e.g.with NJCBI, BATJIC, Institute of Apprenticeships etc.)
  • Completed an employer sponsored apprenticeship that included the achievement of a City and Guilds of London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate.

You must also pass a CITB Health, Safety and Environment test within the last 2 years, at the relevant level for the occupation being applied for. To find out if a Specialist Test is needed, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01274 752777 where we can talk you through this further.

This card is valid for five years and is able to be renewed, by completing a CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at one of our CITB Test Centres – GEM can also support with applying for your CSCS Card. 

It is important to remember that all Industry Accreditation (IA) cards issued from 1st January 2020 will expire on 31st December 2024 and cannot be renewed using Industry Accreditation/Grandfather Rights. For more information about Industry Accreditation/Grandfather Rights, click here.

If you do not have these qualifications, you have a couple of options to gain your Gold Skilled Worker (Advanced Craft) CSCS Card:

  • If you are experienced in your job and are already registered to complete one of the qualifications applicable to your occupation above, you may be able to apply for an Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Manager Card.
  • Undertake an NVQ L3 in a construction related field. This can be 100% on-the-job training; you will be assessed in your place of your work. Although the length of the course depends on the learner, this can usually be completed in 9 – 12 months. If you are an employer, looking to support your employees in gaining their Gold Skilled Worker (Advanced Craft) CSCS Card, or applying for their Gold Skilled Worker (Advanced Craft) CSCS Card following previously obtaining this through Industry Accreditation, there is funding support to allow you to do this with CITB.   • Construction Related Supervisory/Technical NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or 4

You must also pass a Supervisors CITB Health, Safety and Environment test.
