CITB Skills and Training Fund

Small, Micro & Medium businesses can apply for up to £25,000 to invest in training and equip your workforce to face the future – no matter how small your business is.

You can apply for CITB Skills and Training Funding if:

• You are a CITB-registered employer and up to date with Levy returns
• You have 1-250 directly-employed staff on the payroll (employees must be in addition to the business owner)
• Any previous project paid for by the Skills and Training Fund is complete and signed off

Small and Micro-sized Construction Businesses

You can apply for up to £10,000, depending on how many direct employees you have:

• Employers with CIS only (no PAYE) can receive up to £2,500
• 1 to 49 directly-employed staff can receive up to £5,000
• 50 to 74 directly-employed staff can receive up to £7,500
• 75 to 99 directly-employed staff can receive up to £10,000

Medium-sized Construction Businesses

You can apply for up to £25,000, depending on how many direct employees you have:

• 100 to 149 directly-employed staff can receive up to £15,000
• 150 to 199 directly-employed staff can receive up to £20,000
• 200 to 250 directly-employed staff can receive up to £25,000

Businesses can apply twice in 12 months – but can only have 1 live project at a time.

Yes! You can claim both the CITB Short Course Grants as well as the CITB Skills and Training Fund, which will make your funding go even further. Working with GEM on this, we would ensure this Is maximised for you to ensure your funding goes as far as it can.

Our GEM Team is on hand to support and can provide assistance and guidance from the application process, through to meeting the training requirements for your business. From start to finish, our CITB Funding Expert Alice Brooksbank, can support your business to claim the above, put your training plan into practice, and also, cross reference these against the Short Course Grants that are also available. Alternatively, you can complete the application form yourself following the guidance provided by the CITB.

As part of the application, you will need to put together a clear training plan for the next 12 months. Our GEM team can point you in the right direction of the full available grant courses you can claim and support you in putting together a training application that would be strongly considered by CITB. We will work closely with you to make sure you maximise your funding by claiming all available pots available at CITB such as the Short Course Grants in addition to the this Skills and Training Fund. We also have very competitive rates which will help your funding go as far as possible. All this support is FREE!

Once you have applied for the CITB Skills and Training Fund, CITB will assess your application. They take around four weeks to make their decision.

Don’t worry, it is easy to register – and dependent upon the size of your business, you may be exempt from Levy payments, or be eligible for a 50% reduction. Usually the main reasons why funding is rejected is:

• Asking for funding on a course that doesn’t relate to construction.
• Applications don’t contain the required information.
• Levy Returns have not been submitted.
• Behind on Levy payments.
